Salomon QST Lumen 99
Salomon QST Lumen 99
One of the most versatile, and certainly one of our best selling all-mountain skis over the past few years, the Salomon QST Lumen 99 Skis have been thoroughly re-designed for 2020 with a revised sidecut for ease of turn initiation and a longer, tip to tail C/FX (carbon and flax fiber) laminate.
A Powerframe Ti reinforcement and new cork insert in the tip add power and give a ski an uncannily quiet ride on hard and chattery snow. If you thought the previous version of this ski was great (it was), you'll be blown away by the new version that adds stability without sacrificing nimbleness.
As we’ve known for a bit, the Salomon Lumen hits the podium for Freeskier Magazine’s Editor’s Choice and the comments are as follows:
A more svelte version of its sister ski, the QST Stella 106, the Lumen 99 is equally adept at all-mountain, all-condition supremacy. This is owed in large part to Salomon’s use of a carbon fiber and flax layer that keeps this ski ultra-strong and powerful without added bulk. The Lumen 99 will illuminate the way across variable terrain with a damp, smooth, straightforward and friendly style. For that reason, it’s a true “crowd pleaser,” as described by Jenny Harris. “A straightforward and friendly ski with a beautiful shape. Two thumbs up from me.”
All-Terrain Rocker 2.0 – With a slight tip and tail rise, All-Terrain Rocker 2.0 adds an extra dimension of versatility and control for all mountain skiing. Camber in the middle of the ski and full length contact guarantees strong edge grip, stability and power for hard snow and piste skiing. In addition to the excellent terrain absorption and intuitive turn initiation, the slight twin rocker also allows the ski to pivot much easier when ski is flat, increasing control and maneuverability in all conditions.
Carve Zone – The traditionally cambered section of twin rocker skis, where the side-cut is focused fro more power, energy and edge grip.
Cork Damplifier – Cork is three times more absorbing than Koroyd. Using it in the tip of the ski enables a high level of vibration absorption and dampening with even less weight.
Lengths: 159, 167, 174 and 181
Spaceframe 3.0 AMB – Directional design philosophy built to perform in all conditions thanks to all-mountain rocker and a woodcore that extends into the tail.
Solid, fun ride as a 2nd powder ski or as 1 ski for the skier that wants a wider profile for soft snow and cruises bigger turns on more groomed terrain. All the QST W skis are the same build as the mens.
Hook Free Taper – This ski has a 5 point sidecut, where the tip and tail taper in the narrow at the extremities for easier turn initiation and steering in soft and variable snow conditions.
Light Poplar Full Woodcore
Koroyd Honeycomb Tip – The lightest extremities for better flotation, less inertia for easier steering and more control while increasing dampening and shock resistance.
C/FX³ Laminates – Unique prepreg fiber layer consisting of Carbon, Basalt and Flax woven together, running the full length of the ski. Combines the incredible strength and minimal weight of carbon fiber for stability and reinforcement, with an increased level of dampening and vibration absorption above and beyond anything found on traditional carbon and light ski constructions. Patented and exclusive to Salomon.
Ti Power Platform – Titanal insert edge-to-edge.
Pulse Pad – Two layers of rubber elastomer in the tip, tail and underfoot give shock absorption and improve durability of ski.
Full Sandwich Sidewall 360° – Full sandwich with ABS sidewall construction extending around the entire sidewall length for increased ski/snow contact, added strength and great terrain adaptation.
Total Edge Reinforcement – A fiber reinforcement directly on the edges that provides edge stiffness for improved durability and grip.
Binding Compatibility - We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
